David Swinson, Forestry Technician ’06
David is an Area Forester with the Yukon Government. He writes and consults on forest management plans, coordinates environmental assessments for forestry activities, issues harvesting licenses and permits, and develops harvest areas including road, block layout, and timber cruising.
“Fleming provided me with solid technical skills that have been essential throughout my career. It gave me a foundation to build my career on. Choosing the Forest Technician program after my common first semester at Fleming was one of the best choices I’ve made in my career and provided me with a wide range of opportunities and experiences.
My career has taken me across Canada and to different parts of the world. After graduating, I spent a summer working in Scotland on a forestry internship. Following up on this experience I worked for the University of Toronto, the Government of Alberta, and private industry in central Ontario before moving to the Yukon Territory for my current job with the Government of Yukon.”
