Student Services List Serv

Our Fleming Student Services list serv was suggested at the last divisional meeting as a way for us to share ideas and ask questions with our Fleming colleagues.  This is an optional communication tool that your may join if you wish and leave at any time.  It is only available to users with a flemingcollege.ca email and to start we will focus on employees who provide student services at Fleming.  We will give this a whirl for a year and see if it is helpful to people.

Instructions to join

  1. Go to http://webmail.flemingcollege.ca
  2. Login to the Outlook Web Access Page.
  3. On the right hand side – Click Options – See All Options
  4. On the left had side – Click Groups.  There you will see: Public Groups I Belong To and Public Groups I Own.
  5. Click Join
  6. Select the Group you would like to Join – studentserviceslistserv@flemingcollege.ca.
  7. Once you have selected the group you can then click on ‘Details’ or ‘Join’.
    • ‘Join’ will send an email to the owner (Cindy English) asking to confirm your request or reject it.  After the owner responds, you will receive an email with either an accept or reject.
    • ‘Details’ will give you the details of the list – who the owner is and who the other members are.

Listserv Etiquette…or netiquette… simple guidelines to make this listserv more enjoyable

  1. Our listserv is meant to provide a forum to share information, ask questions, look for collaborators on projects/initiatives related to student services.
  2. Be sure to include a descriptive subject line.
  3. Responses to many listserv list questions and discussion topics are of interest to the entire list. In these cases, it is appropriate to reply to the listserv list address.
  4. Personal replies (i.e. Thanks) should be directed to specific individuals rather than to the entire list. Remember to cut and paste the sender’s e-mail address when replying rather than simply hitting the “Reply” button which sends the response to the entire list.
