PT Support Staff – New Collective Agreement

March 12, 2019 – 1.5% Increase, Retro Payment and Union Dues

As provided to employees covered under the new Part-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement and to Managers in the March 12, 2019 e-mail, a number of changes will be observed as the College works to implement the agreement. Starting on the March 15 pay, part-time support staff will observe the following:

  1. Union Dues
    As of the date of ratification, February 21, 2019, employees covered under this new collective agreement must have union dues deducted from their pay. The union dues are 1.375% of one’s work earnings. Union dues will be deducted for the first time on the March 15, 2019 paycheque. Employees may view this change to their paycheque as of Wednesday March 13 via My Campus > More Applications… > View Paycheque.
  2.  New Wage (1.5% increase)
    Also on the March 15, 2019 pay, all part-time employees covered under this new agreement will have their current hourly wage rate increased by 1.5%. A second hourly wage increase of 1.5% will be made to all eligible part-time support staff employees as of January 31, 2020.

Important Information:

  • Part-time support staff employees who are receiving Equal Pay for Equal Work wage rates will also receive the 1.5% increase for work up to 24 hours per week.
  • Part-time support staff working in an over 24 hours per week capacity receive a greater benefit of earning via the full-time support staff wage grid. As such, the full-time rates will continue to apply for this work as per the local Memorandum of Understanding which currently exists between the College and OPSEU 351.
  1. Retro Pay (1.5%)
    Further, 1.5% will also be paid out to eligible, part-time support staff on any work covered under this collective agreement retroactive to January 2, 2019.  Union dues will also be collected from this retro payment. If eligible, this retroactive payment will be paid out on the March 29, 2019 pay.

February 22, 2019 – Part Time Support Staff Ratify First Collective Agreement

On February 21, 2019, the first ever collective agreement was ratified by College support staff part time employees across the 24 Ontario Colleges.  More information on this two-year agreement, ending on January 31, 2020, will be provided by the College as implementation of the agreement commences.
