The Brian L. Desbiens Community Service Award

The Brian L. Desbiens Community Service Awards recognize volunteer service by Fleming employees as well as members of our external community. In 2013, the internal award, formerly part of the annual Fleming Awards, was combined with a re-named external award (formerly the Fellowship in Applied Education Award), in an effort to encourage more interest in these important awards.

When are nominations accepted?

Nominations are received for two weeks beginning the third week in September, each year and can be submitted electronically.

Who is eligible to be Nominated?

Internal Award – Any employee of Fleming College may be nominated for the internal award. Recipients are eligible to nominated again for the same award after 3 full years have passed.

External Award – Nominees must reside in Peterborough Northumberland or Haliburton Counties, or the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Who can nominate?

Internal Award – Students, Faculty, staff and Board members are eligible to nominate a deserving Fleming Employee for this award.

External Award – Nominations can be submitted by members of the public or employees of the College.

Information regarding the nomination process will be distributed in September.

Nomination Tips:

  • be sure to address all of the criteria and include lots of detail
  • use specific examples of how the criteria has been met
  • feel free to send pertinent information (letters, etc. – limited to 2 pages). If additional support signatures are included, please have them indicate that they have read the nomination
  • the more information you provide, the better
