Student Recruitment

The Student Recruitment Department at Fleming College works internally and externally, and has responsibilities with varied stakeholder groups.

We work internally with academic schools to facilitate school-based, program-specific special events in order to support current and new program initiatives. We provide assistance with event set up, facilitation of inviting schools, touring guests on campus, and preparation of print materials for the event.

External to Fleming College, the department strategizes approaches, plans visits and events. We also develop and deliver presentations at Trade/Career Shows to the general public, as well as in schools to prospective students, teachers and parents.

Please visit our Events page for a full listing of events.

Other Student Recruitment activities:

Grade 10 visits:
Grade 10 visits (on campus or in school): Student Recruitment staff visit Grade 10 classes to discuss the transition to college and what it takes to be successful during this transition. The session also provides an overview of our programs and the exciting career options they can lead to.

Who We Are…

Student Recruitment Officers: We have one full-time Student Recruitment Officer at both the Frost and Sutherland campuses.

Student Recruitment Officers establish significant relationships with external audiences interested in learning about the programs and services at Fleming College. This audience includes prospective students, their families and friends, teachers, guidance counsellors, and graduates and non-graduates of local high schools. This is done through formal presentations and informal interactions.

Student Recruitment Officers also work with Fleming’s Academic Schools to facilitate on and off-campus events that promote our programs.

Admissions and Student Recruitment Assistants: These two full-time positions are shared between the Admissions and Student Recruitment teams and are based at the Sutherland campus. These two team members assist the Student Recruitment Officers in delivering presentations and application support to senior level students in 350 schools across Ontario.

Return to Learn Consultant: This permanent part-time position supports mature learners who are considering coming to college after at least one year of being out of high school. The Return to Learn Consultant establishes significant relationships with Continuing Education Centres and Alternative Learning Centres.

Students Ambassadors: Ambassadors are hired each academic year to assist the Student Recruitment team at the Sutherland and Frost campuses with tours for prospective students and their families, as well as assisting in the organization and delivery of large on-campus events.
