Since the Industry Innovation Office (IIO) opened in 2010, Fleming has supported over 50 local and regional companies – from the Mom and Pop shop with a simple, innovative idea, to more developed research problems from established businesses. Mary Lou McLean, Fleming’s Industry Innovation Officer, works in partnership with businesses to develop proposals, research objectives and then partner those research activities with Fleming faculty and researchers.

For businesses, the IIO provides resources that may otherwise be out of reach. For our students, the IIO provides a chance to partner with industry and to witness firsthand the inner workings of a small company.

Fleming is proud to be part of the Colleges Ontario Network for Industry Innovation (CONII) which is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation. As part of the CONII network, the IIO also provides a conduit to source expertise from any of the other CONII member colleges.

Any Ontario incorporated business with a clearly identified market-place need is eligible to apply for funding from CONII through the Industry Innovation Office.

The Industry Innovation Office is located at the Frost campus in Room 286A.
