Purpose of the College Committee for Quality Assurance (CCQA)

Aligned with the Fleming College Strategic Plan, the purpose of the CCQA is to ensure that all Fleming College academic and service areas are engaged in meaningful quality assurance processes that are measurable and demonstrate quality through evidence-based practices.   Not only will this make us a better institution as a whole and more responsive to student needs, but will also demonstrate commitment to Fleming College’s culture of continuous quality improvement.

With this purpose in mind, each member of the Quality Committee will be responsible for establishing and reporting on the quality assurance processes in his/her area. We will regularly review these quality processes, and the evidence from them, discuss and make recommendations for revision or validate the importance of the current processes.

Governance and Policy Relationship

With the support and advice of the Vice President of Academics, the Fleming College Quality Assurance Committee has been established to focus on the implementation of the new College Quality Assurance Policy. Members will actively support existing procedures and practices as well as recommend new approaches to evolve the culture of quality across all areas of the College. This new policy states:

‘In Ontario, publicly funded colleges adhere to provincial quality standards developed by the Ontario College Quality Assurance Service which provides credential validation, quality audits and institutional accreditation. Fleming College is committed to implementing comprehensive quality assurance processes, and achieving full accreditation within the Ontario College system.

The purpose is to ensure that Fleming College, through institutional, integrated planning and implementation processes, continuously improves and provides high quality education and experiences for its students. ‘

Length of Term

Academic Deans and Chairs will represent the Academic Division for a 2 year term.

Member Roles and Responsibilities

Through collaboration with committee members and staff in your school, you will:

  1. Assess and provide advice regarding the Academic Quality Assurance processes undertaken across Fleming College.
  2. Provide input into education and training for college personnel around quality assurance processes.
  3. Provide oversight and prepare for all aspects of the College Quality Assurance AuditProcess (CQAAP) including 18 month reporting.
  4. Communicate regularly with faculty and staff on matters of quality assurance.
  5. Collect evidence of quality practices at Fleming College relative to the College Accreditation Standards.

Meetings / Minute Taking

The committee will meet monthly. The Chair will distribute the agenda and supporting documents 5 days prior to the scheduled meeting. Action Items for follow up will be recorded and distributed to members by the Academic Quality Assurance Coordinator.
