Tom Mikel is the coordinator of the Urban Forestry Technician Program. Although he spends the majority of his teaching time within the UFT program, he teaches several fourth-semester courses in the Forestry Program. Tom is an ISA Certified Arborist and a Fleming graduate himself. Before his career in teaching, Tom operated a tree care business specializing in private tree care and custom sawmilling. Tom’s passion is everything trees, from biology and studying the living tree through to its final form of lumber and forest products. When not teaching Tom can be found in his home workshop building wood projects from lumber he has milled himself.
