External Financial Assistance

IMPORTANT REMINDER: remember to reach out to your band office, MNO office, Regional Inuit Association or local Indigenous Employment and Training agency well before you plan to attend Fleming, to ensure that you meet all necessary funding application deadline

The following bursaries and scholarships are offered outside of Fleming College to First Nation, Inuit and Métis students. You may apply for these in conjunction with the Fleming General Bursary Application and/or individually based on the eligibility requirements:

When applying for internal or external bursaries, you may be required to provide proof of your Social Insurance Number (ie. SIN card, Notice of Assessment form, etc.). If you currently do not have a SIN, please give yourself plenty of time to obtain appropriate documentation to avoid any barriers in applying for financial assistance. John Wesley Beaver Memorial Awards

To be awarded to those in the field of Business and Administration, Engineering and Architecture, Environmental Studies. Two awards of $4000.00 each are awarded each year. Applicants must have minimum B average; demonstrate strong communication skills and involvement in extracurricular activities, including volunteer work; be legally eligible to work in Canada upon graduation; must submit a brief (500 words) overview of their interest in Native culture and heritage.

Four Directions Scholarship

This scholarship is intended for students graduating from an Ontario high school with 75% overall average. Applicants must show involvement in community and/or school extra-curricular activities, leadership qualities, dedication and good attendance.

One, $1000.00 scholarship is awarded each year to an Aboriginal student meeting the eligibility requirements.

Gladys Watson Aboriginal Education Fund

To be awarded to Aboriginal students, including Status, Non-Status, Métis and Inuit students, enrolled in graduate programs at the master’s or doctoral level, and second-entry professional programs. All Aboriginal students in these programs are eligible to apply, full-time and part-time, with preference given to those students who demonstrate financial need.
