Acquisition of IT Services and Resources – The purchase or acquisition of any IT service or resource on behalf of the College must be made under the direction and approval of the ITS. As determined and required by the ITS department, privacy, security, and technical reviews will be conducted for IT goods or services, prior to procurement and/or use. Software, whether free or paid, must be approved by ITS to appropriately assess and manage any data/information risk to the College. (Fleming College – Appropriate Use Policy #6-601 section 5.6)

About the Approved Software List

The list is comprised of the broad general name of most end-user software titles approved for use at the college. The list includes a variety of software types such as desktop software, server software, operating system, software-as-a-service, websites that require a login to access, etc.
Exclusions from the list include: public-facing websites that do not require a login and subscriptions to read-only content.

Software Support

The level of software support provided by the college varies per title. Generally, the levels include:

    • Supported: The ITS department or other college staff will assist you with acquisition, installation and basic use functionality. We may refer you to the manufacturer of the software product in question for more advanced use support.
    • Referral: If problems are encountered in the use of the software, support will be referred back to the software manufacturer for assistance.

Software Terms of Use

  • Software access, licensing, installation and provisioning restrictions apply on a per-software title basis.
  • The end user must abide by all applicable End User License Agreements (EULA) before purchasing, accessing or using any software. This includes all provisions relating to non-commercial, academic, educational or personal use.
  • The college’s Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) – User Standard (US-107) provides a general-purpose minimal recommendation for computer hardware & software required to access the college’s IT resources. The standard defines the responsibilities and expectations of Fleming users when studying or
