About: A virtual private network (VPN) extends a private/internal network across a public network (such as the Internet) and enables users to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if their computing devices were directly connected to the private network.  Fleming College uses the Palo Alto Global Protect VPN solution to provide secure access to some services only available on our internal network.

Availability: VPN is available to Fleming staff and students upon request.
Email itsupport@flemingcollege.ca to create a service request ticket.
The College periodically reviews who has been granted VPN access and removes it if no longer needed and hasn’t been used in over 6 months.

Q: Does Fleming’s VPN service route all my Internet traffic via the VPN connection when active?
A: No, Fleming’s VPN uses “split tunnelling” where ONLY the portion of traffic destined for Fleming resources/IPs will travel through the encrypted VPN tunnel, and all other traffic travels directly from your PC to the Internet as it does normally.  In this manner, our VPN service does not provide IP/location masking protection or provide any additional encryption on top of your normal Internet traffic.
