Service Degradation- In-person IT Service Desk Support

When?

Beginning on September 11, 2025, and for the duration of the strike.

Why?

Full-time Support Staff at Ontario colleges are on strike. For more information, please visit: Bargaining Updates and FAQs: Fleming College

What’s the impact?

In-person IT Service Desk support will be paused for the duration of the strike. This includes:

Phone and web access to IT support remains available 24/7 by using the College’s TDX Service Portal or calling 1 (866) 353-6464 x4111.

Information Update: End of LinkedIn Learning Access

When?

Access to the College’s LinkedIn Learning subscription will end on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Why?

Due to the conclusion of our current enterprise licensing agreement.

What’s the impact?

The end of Fleming’s LinkedIn Learning access will impact anyone currently using the platform for skills development.

To ensure you retain the value of your learning, please take action as follows:

  • Complete any in-progress courses
  • Download course completion certificates
  • Save personal notes and learning materials
  • Bookmark key external resources for future reference
Please plan ahead to avoid losing access to your learning history and valuable content.

Information Update: 1Password – Minimum Browser Requirements

When?

Starting Tuesday, October 14, 2025, 1Password will enforce new minimum browser version requirements for accessing its web application and browser extension.

Why?

To ensure optimal performance, security, and compatibility, 1Password is updating its browser support policy. This change helps maintain a reliable and secure experience for all users.

What’s the impact?

Users on older versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Brave will no longer be able to access the web app via the 1Password website. Existing browser extensions will continue to function but will not receive updates until the browser is updated to meet the new minimum version.
New Minimum Browser Versions:
  •      Chrome: 128
  •      Firefox: 128
  •      Edge: 128
  •      Brave: 1.69.x

Recommended Action:

To avoid service disruption, please ensure all team members update their browsers before Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

Fall 2025 Student Software Image – Software Requests

When?

Due before Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025

Why?

We ask you to review the list of software (attached herein) with the lens of modernizing our current software stack within our student images. Where possible, we should be replacing aged software with more current applications. Program Deans and Chairs are aware of this initiative, and we suggest you work with your Program Coordinators on suitable application selection.

What’s the impact?

Fleming ITS is beginning the annual task of preparing the student software image used to refresh all common-use student PCs every August. Further to the annual task, the current version of the Windows Operating System (Windows 10) is slated to be replaced within the next two years. The current list of software contains titles that are not supported under the upcoming Windows OS nor are they certified for the future replacement desktops.

You may also request any additions or version upgrades for modern software meeting the above criteria for the upcoming academic year. Please do so by submitting a TDX ticket.

The cut-off date for software request submissions will be June 3rd, 2025. This gives ITS time to build, test and deploy the new image to all common-use student workstations at the College, prior to the start of the fall semester.
