Hazardous Material Pickups

Hazardous Waste Pickups are scheduled on a 90-day rotation at both Frost Campus and Sutherland Campus. For dates regarding Haliburton pickups, please email safety@flemingcollege.ca

Hazardous Waste Pickups 2024 

Sutherland and Frost

Email communication is sent to employees included on the Hazardous Waste Distribution lists 1 month prior to each pickup date to ensure sufficient time is given to prepare.

Important Note: Contact safety@flemingcollege.ca if you have hazardous waste, but have not been added to the hazardous waste distribution list. 

A completed Hazardous Waste Disposal Inventory must be submitted to safety@flemingcollege.ca 10 days prior to the pickup date to ensure your waste will be included on the pickup day.

SUTHERLAND CAMPUS

Please take all inventoried waste to the Hazardous Materials Room (located on the loading dock in shipping and receiving) once the following steps have been completed:

  • Hazardous Waste Disposal Inventory has been completed and sent to safety@flemingcollege.ca
  • Safety has confirmed the inventory is complete and the items are able to be moved to the Hazardous Materials Room (Safety footwear is required)

Note: ALL materials dropped off must be labelled as intended for hazardous waste disposal AND name or program of who dropped it off.

FROST CAMPUS

Once the Hazardous Waste Disposal Inventory has been received, reviewed and approved safety@flemingcollege.ca with send email correspondence containing all drop-off information. Including where and when items will need to be taken for the scheduled Hazardous Waste Pickup.

Note: ALL materials dropped off must be labelled as intended for hazardous waste disposal AND name or program of who dropped it off.

HE, RDB, LAW/ARB – no need to transfer as the material will be picked up at these buildings on the scheduled Hazardous Waste Pickup date.

HALIBURTON CAMPUS

Once the Hazardous Waste Disposal Inventory has been received, reviewed and approved safety@flemingcollege.ca with send email correspondence containing all drop-off information. Including where and when items will need to be taken for the scheduled Hazardous Waste Pickup.

Additional Information

Please note, waste collection containers must be clearly labelled with the type of waste accumulated in the container, e.g., “halogenated solvent, hydrochloric acid”, and sealed.

Inadequate, improperly sealed or generic labelled containers (e.g. “waste chemicals” or “Hazmat”) WILL NOT be accepted.
