Phishing emails are a regular occurrence, a cyber threat lurking in your inbox. While Fleming makes every effort to reduce phishing emails, no system is perfect, and your awareness is key to protect yourself from phishing scams. Always exercise extra caution with any emails offering grants, bursaries or job offers.

Be aware of trusted sources for College information:

• Grants or bursaries notices will only be sent by our Financial Aid office (FinAid@flemingcollege.ca) or Advancement & External Relations department (alumni@flemingcollege.ca).
• Job opportunities and postings for on-campus student work are only ever posted to the Evolve Applicant Portal maintained by the Fleming College Human Resources department. Fleming College never sends mass communications about specific job postings. Refer to the Fleming College Career Services page for assistance with student employment at the College or elsewhere.
• Job offers will only be sent by our Human Resources department (hr@flemingcollege.ca) or a hiring manager that has interviewed you for job.
• Emails from outside of the organization, not from the @flemingcollege.ca email domain, include an “external sender” warning banner.

What should you do if you suspect or spot a phish?

• Report a Phish: In Outlook (desktop or web), click on the [ Report ] button.  After making the report, the email is automatically deleted.
• If the email appears to be from someone you know, reach out to the sender through a different channel. i.e. Call the sender of the message on the phone and ask them if they sent you the message.
• If unsure, just remember – When in doubt – Throw it out! And just delete the email.

ITS is looking to hire a Senior Enterprise Web Applications Analyst.

Reporting to the Manager of College Information Systems, this position will lead the work groups support for the College’s use of Information Application Services, including but not limited to Oracle/PeopleSoft’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software by coordinating communications (primarily work requests, status updates and meeting correspondence) between the client departments college-wide and the IT division with the purpose of prioritizing assigned tasks, challenging, and clarifying requirements and performing initial analysis and assessment.

Administer the College Enterprise Portal including design, development, support and analysis. Source, develop and support contribution tools deployed to content owners across the entire College community. Manage and maintain information provided by contributors throughout the College. Act as single point of contact for our portal vendor and the external third parties with content provided on or through the college portal. Plan, coordinate and manage regular maintenance windows for portal vendor software updates with input/consideration for all operational areas of the College.

Research industry trends and anticipate short- and long-term future College requirements. Integrate using delivered services and/or responsible for analysis, design, development and implement core services as associated to College’s ERP system. Anticipate and research any security needs and provide direction for portal applications in conjunction with ERP and any third-party systems as needed. Support the client departments by gaining understanding of their business processes and system requirements through consultation.

ITS is looking to hire an additional Service Desk Technical Support Specialist at our Sutherland Campus location.

The Service Desk Technician is the initial point of contact for resolving technical issues for Fleming College users.  They will provide hardware, software, and network connection troubleshooting for a wide variety of devices including workstations, printers, mobile devices, and phones and will provide advice or one-on-one training to users.

Ensures effective, timely and accurate creation and resolution of service tickets.  Communicates updates on a day-to-day basis, particularly regarding critical issues.  Escalates tickets when necessary to IT Network/Evolve team when appropriate.  Works closely with IT Network/Evolve teams to collect appropriate ticket info to assist in resolving problems.

Supports and facilitates learning in the Learning Commons by responding to student questions and assisting with using software.

Cyber Security Awareness Month (or just Cyber Month) is an internationally recognized campaign held each October to help the public learn more about the importance of cyber security. We at Fleming College are proud to be a Get Cyber Safe champion.

This year’s Cyber Month theme is Generation Cyber Safe: Because online security knows no age. Online security affects all Canadians. Every generation is part of Generation Cyber Safe and we’re celebrating how much stronger each generation can be when they come together to stay safe online.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts. When enabled, you’ll need a second verification step (like a code from your phone) to log in. This makes it much harder for hackers to steal your information. MFA is required for off-campus access and is simple to set up!
