There are many ways to incorporate technology into your course to boost engagement. Fleming College has licensing for a variety of options, which you can view in the ITS Software Catalog.
Some options to consider include
- H5P (through eCampusOntario) – can be used to create content and questions that can be embedded in D2L.
- For instructions on using H5P and embedding it into your D2L course, see Creating Content in H5P.docx
- Microsoft Forms – Faculty members can create surveys, quizzes, forms, or sign-up sheets for students to complete for a variety of purposes.
- Microsoft Whiteboard can be used to demonstrate a concept or have students collaborate in a brainstorming or other type of activity, either synchronously or asynchronously.
- Shared documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) in Office 365 can be used for student group work, in-class activities (in person and/or in Webex or Teams breakout rooms), etc.
- Our Learning Activities for Asynchronous Delivery includes a variety of options for engaging asynchronous students in active learning, including using shared documents, whiteboards, D2L, and H5P.
- Slido – Faculty members can use Slido, which is built into Teams and WebEx and can be added into PowerPoint using an extension, to engage students through questions, quizzes, polls, etc. Fleming Faculty members and students automatically have a Slido account.
- Microsoft Teams / Webex – Faculty members can use the chat tool, breakout rooms, reactions, etc. to engage students
