Engagement Technology

There are many ways to incorporate technology into your course to boost engagement. Fleming College has licensing for a variety of options, which you can view in the ITS Software Catalog.

Some options to consider include

  • H5P (through eCampusOntario) – can be used to create content and questions that can be embedded in D2L.
  • Microsoft Forms – Faculty members can create surveys, quizzes, forms, or sign-up sheets for students to complete for a variety of purposes.
  • Microsoft Whiteboard can be used to demonstrate a concept or have students collaborate in a brainstorming or other type of activity, either synchronously or asynchronously.
  • Shared documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) in Office 365 can be used for student group work, in-class activities (in person and/or in Webex or Teams breakout rooms), etc.
  • Slido – Faculty members can use Slido, which is built into Teams and WebEx and can be added into PowerPoint using an extension, to engage students through questions, quizzes, polls, etc. Fleming Faculty members and students automatically have a Slido account.
  • Microsoft TeamsWebex – Faculty members can use the chat tool, breakout rooms, reactions, etc. to engage students
