Residence Council is now hiring Residence Council Executive for the Fall 2019 and Winter 2020 terms! Residence Council is the representative body for on-campus students that advocates for residence students body. Residence Council also plans and implements large scale programs within the residence community to create fun opportunities within residence. Residence Council acts as an advisory committee for the residence; areas of consultation include: residence fees, residence policies and residence programming. The Residence Council hosts weekly meetings with residence representatives from every community. As a council member you will gain high levels of leadership experience and develop yourself personally, academically and socially.

We are looking for students who are excited about getting involved and making a difference within the residence community!

Brief Job Descriptions

Residence Council President

  • 1 position per campus in fall/winter terms
  • Oversee and lead building/area council
  • Attend building meetings, executive meetings, and event meetings
  • Create agenda and chair building meetings
  • Attend council events
  • Ensure the building reps are attending and engaged in the meetings and events
  • Communicate with floor reps through email/social media

Secretary

  • 1 position per campus in fall/winter terms
  • Attend all executive meetings
  • Attend council events
  • Compile minutes from building meetings and make public
  • Send website updates and event information to Housing
  • Organizing and managing social media site and updating content
  • Take the lead on all event advertising initiates

Treasurer

  • 1 position per campus in fall/winter terms
  • Attend all executive meetings
  • Attend council events
  • Manage the budget (keep the spreadsheet up to date)
  • Update Council on status of budget
  • Collect all receipts from the council
  • Send request for cheque to the Community Co-ordinator

Floor Representatives

  • Represent their community at Residence Council Meetings
  • Attend and actively participate in all meetings
  • Help in the planning, promotion and organization of building events
  • Attend all events and take on responsibilities for executing the events
