Harassment, Discrimination and Human Rights Accommodation

CommitmentĀ

The Ontario Human Rights Code (the ā€œCodeā€) states that it is public policy in Ontario to recognize the dignity and worth of every person and to provide equal rights and opportunities without discrimination. Fleming College is committed to creating a climate of understanding and mutual respect for the dignity and worth of each person, so that each person feels a part of and able to contribute to the College.Ā Ā

Harassment and discrimination are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The College is expected to be a safe and positive space where members of the College community feel able to work, learn and express themselves in an environment free from harassment and discrimination.

In accordance with the Ontario Government’s Bill 166, Strengthening Accountability and Student Supports Act, 2024, Fleming College has updated its Harassment and Discrimination Prevention and Response policy to include incidents of racism and hate that occur on campus. To report an incident of racism, hate, harassment and/or discrimination, please contact the manager, human rights and workplace resolution, or complete the online reporting form anonymously.

The College is committed to providing inclusive, barrier-free employment. Sometimes, one individual’s accommodation requests may come in conflict with another person’s legally protected rights. Where there is a conflict between two rights, the College will attempt to find a solution that is satisfactory to both parties which minimizes the infringement and maximizes the fulfillment of each person’s rights.Ā Ā
